The TallShip & The Sunset sail?

Did you know Tall Ship DERWENT HUNTER does an awesome Sunset Sail and Twilight Cruise. In fact we are just as awesome at it as we are our Tall Ship Day Sailing Tours. We are one of the largest sailing vessels in the Whitsundays sailing fleet offering sunset sailing in the beautiful bays of Airlie Beach.

  • Massive open decks with plenty of space (75 feet of it to be exact) and 90ft overall
  • Whilst she can take up to 65 passengers we keep Sunset Sailing and Twilights under 40
  • A Tall Ship with SHADE! Yes our permanent shade keeps the sun (and rain) at bay and we can still put our full set of sails up.
  • Fully licensed bar with a selection of local and imported beers, wines, bubbles of course and cider along with soft drink, non-alcoholic beverages and sparkling water
  • Available for private charters and groups

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TWILIGHT & SUNSET?

Most people know about a sunset cruise when you witness the beauty of the sun setting on the horizon. However for some time after sunset there is the twilight zone where there is a soft glowing light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, caused by the reflection of the sun's rays from the atmosphere. The period of the evening when twilight is visible, between daylight and darkness. Twilight also happens before sunrise, where the light of the sun illuminates your surrounds, where the dark of night transitions to the moment the sun rises on the horizon.

Our tour enables you to witness the sunset, slip (and sip) away the twilight and have you back in the Harbour before the final setting in of night... what could be more beautiful on an historic tall ship. Arriving back on dark gives you ample time to get to your dinner booking (that's if your not already full).
